This year I made a special point of saying, "Hmmmm... I don't know... I think LAST YEAR'S convention was at least as good, if not better." Got some confuzzled looks and nervous laughs.

Yeah, at one point my mother forbade be to read 'The Hobbit' for school and the teacher had an absolute fit...
I did go on to read all the LOTR cycle...
In my teens snuck some Stephen King in even.
But finding 'Breakfast of Champions' in my seventh grade library made a lasting impression on me. Kurt Vonnegut was a piece of work!

i discovered today that the september magazines and the nwt are available as epub files on the jw.org website.
that's pretty handy for those of you with ipads that have the interest in reading them (especially those still "in").
i'm guessing this works with e-readers and other tablets.. what is particularly noteworthy is that when opened in ibooks, the articles have links to all the scriptures, footnotes, etc, and links back to the paragraph.

Veteran's Stadium Philadelphia was a literal HELL HOLE.
The place was like a solar cooker. Did enjoy when our convention proceedings were interrupted by the Live Aid concert in 1985.
